Rent Allowance not yet approved, rent due, what to do?

    I currently live in North County Dublin, am unemployed and have requested rent allowance. I had to borrow to pay the rent last month, and only last week, I received a letter asking for further documents - a P45, bank statement etc. I have sent these, but I imagine it'll take a number of weeks to hear back, as happened last time.

    My rent is due this week though, and I genuinely cannot afford to pay it. Is there anything I can do, anywhere I can go for help?

    You should go to your local Community Welfare officer. While I don't think they can speed up your application, you can apply for supplementary welfare allowance.
