Anything about this light that makes you think it was something other than a fire lantern?

I saw a red/orange light moving across the sky at around 10pm.
It was in the Raheen area of Limerick. I thought it was a really
    bright star at first.
It was probably a Chinese lantern.

The International Space Station was very bright tonight as it passed over Ireland. It crossed over just after 10.30, and would have been moving from west to east. It was visible for about 2 minutes.
Should not have appeared red though. More yellow/white. The ISS is going to be very bright for the next couple of weeks, with tomorrow night being one of the brightest (9.27pm - from the west). Other nights/times here

Unless you have good cause to think otherwise, like it darted around in different directions or something, then it's best to assume it was a lantern.

I've seen the ISS plenty of times, was never anything except bright white colour to me.
