Any problems setting it up? Ordered one to replace my mothers bedroom (non Saorview) set. Hoping the digital tuning is fairly straightforward.

IT was flawless for me, just anytime I turn tv on there is subtitles on, can't seem to turn them off as a default.

I figured that one out - go to the subtitle screen, turn "analog subtitle" to "Off" & also scroll "1st subtitle" and the "2nd subtitle" through to the end of the languages where it will also say "off"

    overall tv seems pretty good.

Is Digital Aertel (which requires MHEG5) working on that Hannspree?

Spoke to the guy in the phone yesterday, and he mentioned the offer was valid till the end of the day today.

the price should still stand. just ask one of the staff to look after you. the price was advertised for the whole weekend. website may have had an automatic change on monday morning (as though after a nornmal weekend).
fair play to glasso for pointing out how to get rid off the subtitles.

I picked up the last boxed one of these in Lucan today, still at €149.99

There's still a display model there, maybe someone can haggle the price down further for that.

Just for the record. Mine arrived today and Digital Aertel does not work on this set. On RTE2 there is no text at all.

Not an issue for me as it's for one of my parents, and neither have ever used teletext:eek:. Apologies for mentioning MHEG5 in my original post, not sure where I got that incorrect info from:o

To be fair, Hannspree do splatter MHEG5 on the packaging, but for some reason, it doesn't work. Hannspree, to date, have not responded to any emails on the issue.

The standard Aertel is still carried on RTÉ1, though after Analogue Switch-Off (ASO) the digital Aertal may become the norm.

If you're not interested in teletext, it might be less of an issue, though I'd be concerned if RTE started red-button services like Sky or BBC offer, which would also rely on MHEG5.
