NCT and window tint

Just failed the NCT because of the window tint on my driver and passenger window. I don't really mind because it was on it when I bought it. It is on the result sheet as a visual inspection only and the guy told me I can just peel it off and come back but something is bothering me about it.

The test result sheet puts the threshold at 65% tint but does not say what mine is. I also watched the entire test and did not see him measure the tint at all. And if there is a defined threshold how can it be done by visual inspection only? Surely they would have to measure the tint again. What if I take it off and put on a lighter tint?

It all just seems a bit suspect to me. Anyone got any information on this part of the test?

Also is there anything I can do to make the tint come off easier?

There was a thread about it couple of days ago. Try searching for it.

NCT Testers were issued test equipment to measure the threshold. There are too many variables for someone to make a judgement call on their visual perception.

If I thought my tint was borderline I'd demand to see a proper test, however almost all after market tints will fail but I would still ask.
