We are going over to Connemara for a few days next week. I would love to take my husband and kids to Inis Mor on a ferry. I have a lovely memory of renting bikes with a friend years ago and cycling to Dun Aonghasa on a glorious day. Will it be a disaster? How would you get from the harbour to the Fort with a 7 year old and a 4 year old? Is there any other way other than cycling as they are obviously too small. Any thoughts or experiences which might help? Many thanks. Fiona:confused:

A fleet of minibuses meets each ferry, offering a tour for about a tenner a head. They show you a bit more than Dún Aengus, and they drop you off for a couple of hours at the Dún. it's still a bit of a climb from where they let you off, but manageable.

You have been there before, and you know your own children, so I am sure you can ensure that they don't fall of the cliff.

I don't know if the rental companies on Inis Mór have them, but you could bring your own bikes and attach your children's bikes to yours with one of these attachments. Your children can pedal if they want, but it'll really be you driving the bike forward with your pedals. Best of both worlds.
