    hi,

i was planning on sittin the kings inn exams this summer. however i never took jurisprudence in college.

i was under the impression that u could sit the exam externally in may. however this has changed this year something i was unaware of.

just wondering does anyone know what else i could do. ive contacted independentcolleges.ie and other colleges 2 see if they run jurisprudence and see if i could sit it before this summer. however i think it may be 2 late.

does anyone have any advice or knowledge in this area? any info is greatly appreciated, thanks

The Inns can change entrance examination criteria from time to time. I was under the impression you could sit one subject in their Diploma Course and then sit the Diploma exam and add that to your pre-existing law degree (without Jurisprudence) in order to pass the application criteria to sit the entrance exam. Contact the Inns www.kingsinns.ie

Hi, i think that's changed. I think (open to correction) you now have to sit the full Jurisprudence (or whatever exam you need to qualify) in full. Before you could just sit the exam but now you have to go the whole hog and sit the classes too.

How would you prove you have done the course then? You have to get your attendance certified and an exam result. Pretty difficult if all you have done is sneaked into a lecture room, not registered for the course and not paid a fee.

but the Inns want you to sit a full class on them now so you would have to have proof to show you sat the classes.

I'm currently doing the Diploma Course in full.

From what I can see of the externs, attendance for classes is not taken, unlike in the Degree year, so while they may want you to attend the classes, they do not seem to monitor that requirement.

It may be worth your time just phoning the Inns and seeing if they will let you do an incredibly late enrollment.

Not sure how this veered off into class attendance. Jurisprudence is, and has been a requirement in order to sit the entrance exam. This includes passing an exam in same!

    OP ring the Inns.

because you used to be able to sit the exam only now the Inns want you to do the all the classes hence class attendance

Are we 100% sure about that? .... I thought we were being conditional above?

Eitherway, people serious about the Inns route should do the checking well in advance to cover all the subjects required in advance of the exam.
