Hi, just looking for some help with clearing stuff up.
At the moment, this is my setup:
Hitachi L42VP01U (This has Integrated Digital Television, but I don't know what it is or how to use it)

Standard Sky + Box and Standard dish for Sky +

Silvercrest reciever from Lidl and a sattelite dish and LNB from local store for German channels

I also have an aerial on the top of the chimney for RTÉ 1, 2, TV3 and TG4.

What do I need to buy to get RTÉ 2 HD, or is it even out yet? Is there any free HD channels I could get?

What is Saorview/Saorsat? What's the difference between that and Freeview that they have in the UK?

I'm pretty new to sattelite tv, I'm more of a internet/computer's guy  Help appreciated

    Saorview - http://www.saorview.ie/
    Saorsat - http://www.saorview.ie/what-is-saorview/saorsat/

Freeview is the UK equivalent of Ireland's Saorview DTT service, via an aerial. It's not available in Ennis.

To receive RTÉ 2 HD and the other Saorview DTT channels you require an iDTV or STB which is Saorview certified or at least MPEG-4 (AVC/H.264) compliant and has an aerial attached.

I'm not sure if your TV is MPEG-4 compliant (it's definitely not Saorview certified). Check the specs in the manual for MPEG-4 (AVC/H.264). It may only be an MPEG-2 iDTV (Integrated Digital Television) i.e. UK Freeview certified.

As you already have an aerial attached do a Digital scan on the TV (the manual will describe how to do it), if you only pick up the radio channels and audio on the TV channels (no picture) or no TV audio or video your TV is not compliant. If this is the case a new iDTV or STB (connected to that TV) will be required to receive the Saorview channels.

Saorsat won't be available until later in the year at the earliest, nothing officially confirmed yet. New dish, LNB and receiver will be required.

    Some reading for you
