    Hi guys
I was playing an away comp yesterday and came in with 39 points. The CSS was 68 and I'm off 20.6. Would I be cut for that and if so how much. Nothing on golfnet or howdidido but playing tomorrow so don't want to be playing off a wrong handicap. Thanks in advance

    Hi imola
You will be cut .4 as that is what you will be cut for each shot better than css in cat4.
    So new handicap is 20.2
Meaning you will be off 20 when playing next comp.
    Well done on the cut

jebus sorry imola just looked and saw css was 68 and read it as 38 points.
What is par for your course? As in if it 72 then 68 is four better and css would be 40 points so no cut.If it is par 70 then it would be 38 points and what i said in previous post stands.

Ah here golf is hard enough without all this confusion. And they expect me to work this out on my own??

Just checked there pinseeker, par for the course was 69, where does that leave things?

You are then 2 shots below the CSS, so you will be cut .8

You GUI card should be updated with your new handicap before you play your next round. If not, then you should call into your handicap secretary and ask them what the story is.

    Congratulations on the cut :)

    HaHa confusion central.
Well that means css was 37 points which is better again for you.
You were 2 better so .8 cut.
    Exact handicap of 19.8
So playing off 20 in next comp
    Again well done.

    It's a very basic system

in the same position myself, had 45 points saturday of 16 playing again today so not sure what to do about my handicap i think the css is 74 not sure what it would have been in stableford. should i go ahead and play of 16 if theres no notice of handicap change in clubhouse

If it was so basic you'd imagine my handicap would be updated automatically seing as I used my swipe card

Definitely not! If you play off of a handicap which is higher than your actual handicap you will be disqualified. If you play off of one that is too low nothing will happen to you.

If CSS was 74 (and the par for the course is 72) then you shot 11shots better than CSS, so you would be cut 3.3 shots. Or down to 12.7 if your at 16.0 before the game. If your not sure of your exacta handiap best to play off of 12, That way you wont be disqualified.

There's no point in people posting trying to find out their handicaps, if they dont post the par for the course as well as the css. Without these two pieces of information is isn't possible to work out the change to your handicap.

I know it's been posted many times before, but it is quite simple how to calculate the change in your handicap. The below is a table that tells you all you need to know. Basically, you calculate your own stableford score, compare that to what stableford score you need to shoot to shoot to score standard scratch. Then use this table to find what category golfer you are. If you dont match CSS but are within your buffer, your handicap does not move, if you are outside buffer (shoot a worse score than buffer adjusted stableford css) you move out .1. If you beat css, for every shot better than css you are, you lose the reduction appropriate to your handicap, per column 4.

I have probably explained this poorly, but hopefully not :D

Well it can't be updated until after the competition because they need to calculate CSS and verify everything

That's your handicap secretarys fault. I don't know why you are blaming a computer system

The golfer is responsbile for their own handicap. If the most recent score is not on the system by the time the golfer is playing their next comp, it's the golfer's own responsibility to find out what the css was and to calculate any changes to their handicap.
