Hi, just wondering if anybody is doing the games stream of this course and if so, some fast questions.

    1) What main programming language do you use??, i notice that nearly all of the courses use java but id rather use c# or c++

    2) What in general is the course like.

    Thanks

I do Multimedia but we are mixed with them for a few subjects like Communication Skills, Maths & Computer Essentials.

you use Java on BlueJ for programming.

From what I understand it is a very hard course with a shít load of work

I am not too sure about them using java :/, why would a college teach java in a games development course when c# would be alot more suited

Its mostly Java but you don't use BlueJ beyond first year. I'm fairly sure they do some sort of C programming but no idea what stage in the course. An email to the course leader would let you know. :)

I'm in second year doing the audio stream, Java is used mostly in first year. I know the lads in the games stream moved on to some VPhython and C++ this year, we've all done some JavaScript in the Web Apps module, whereas we've just had to chew on some ActionScript 3.0 audio side.

Also there is a Mac Development elective which you would be learning objective C.

Finished 3rd year applied computing, I did the Games Stream, and I used C++ for one semester and went a different route after games. To be honest, I don't think the games in WIT is great...... Carlow is meant to be fantastic for games.

The guys i know in Entertainment Systems who just finished year 3 didn't have much to say about it. Some colleges start out on Java and others start out on C++ ..... If it's a games career you wish to pursue I think you are in the wrong college man,

Yeah you do Mac development, but that's not worth a slap to be honest unless you are serious about it. great Objective C experience though.....

3rd year was the first year doing it, I'm in second year atm and apparently it has been improved a lot for us and more for the first years .
