    Hi guys,

Theres the usual thread every good friday on After Hours on what a bad law the ban on the sale of alcohol is and that nobody agrees with it, and a bit of the catholic church thrown into the mix as well.

I was just wondering, what would the general process be in getting such a law repealed?

The Government of the day needs to want to change the law. You could either contact your local td with your views. However, to change a law like this it would need widespread public support before the Government would take it on board.

Would petitions be of any use? How many signatures do you think we'd need before it gets put up for debate

Email some TDs and ask them to bring it up

You'd really need the support of one of the bigger parties. As I mentioned in another post, if the religious element is taken out of our holidays be prepared to lose Christmas, Easter and the Sabbath too.
