Regardless of how it looks, everything rolls to the village.;)

    that's a must.

played it tuesday, thought the greens were poor enough, ball doesn't roll end over end, more bobbles along. Thought the rough was too long also.

I played in the open in Hollywood Lakes this week and thought the course was in great condition. I did use an electric trolley, but in the past I have carried my bag and didn't think it was too bad.

    Hi
I'm a member and the greens have much improved even in the last week! It did take them a long time to recover from re hollow thinning! Carrying a bag should be fine! Don't recommend pulling a bag!

    Enjoy.

This is the most important thing you have to remember, I have never played tricker greens, you could be left scratching your head walking off a couple of them , it's a fine track ,I played it the other day it's in fine condition enjoy!

Carry bag is definitely fine. The walk up 7 is hard regardless how you do it!! The greens are on their way back to their best. A bit of rain and they will be perfect in no time. I'm sure you'll enjoy your round anyway.

Cracking course! Played ok (29pts off 13) but really enjoyed it. Found the greens very tricky and I would imagine they are lightning at the height of summer!

Great variety and no problem to walk while carrying the bag - just as well, cos I'd forgot to charge the electric trolley! A warm welcome in the Pro Shop too, I'll certainly be back.

Yea I agree, dont think its that bad a course to walk at all. Good advice given about the putts breaking toward the village. What hole was your favourite?

First par three was v nice, although I double-bogeyed it! 13th is a lovely hole, water all along the left which the fairway snakes around kind of - I hit my best drive of the day there.

Thought the par-fives were all good and the 18th is a cracking finishing hole. Was delighted to be in the greenside bunker in two at that card-wrecker!!

The Thursday open is great value. It's pretty competitive too. I'm a member myself and I shall be there Thursday morning. The greens are getting really fast at the moment. They are in superb condition. Very tricky though. Watch your playing partners putts to try and get as much information as you can because some of the spots are very hard to read!!

There are good scoring opportunities in the first 5 holes. Whatever you do, don't go past the pin on 6 off the tee. Impossible to putt back down the green (same goes for 11 and the par 5 15th). For your approach on the 8th, go down two clubs. And on 18th, go up one club for your approach.

    Hope you enjoy your round!

Great membership deals at the moment too. PM me if you're interested. Or just checkout www.hollywoodlakesgolfclub.com

    Hi Thoscon,
see previous post from Aldilaman below, Im playing there tomorrow myself, hoping for more than the usual 28-30 points!

Yes the saying goes that the greens fall to Ballyboughal but you wont see Ballyboughal when you're putting. The greens fall to the City (Dublin) which actually makes sense. The course is built on very high ground so there is a natural gravitational pull towards lower land. Approach each green and look to where Dublin is (which can be seen from most holes) and the green will fall there.

As you aproach the greens the fall is

Holes 1,2,3 Uphill to the right
    Hole 4 to the water
Hole 5 slightly away from the water which catches a lot out
Hole 6 falling back to the fairway (treacherous downhill)
    Hole 7 to the left
    Hole 8 to the water
Hole 9 uphill to the left
Hole 10 uphill to the left
Hole 11 falling back to the fairway (treacherous downhill)
Hole 12 Uphill to the right
Hole 13 Uphill to the left
Hole 14 to the left but more so on the upper tier
Hole 15 fast to the right
Hole 16 Uphill to the left but faster left higher up the green
    hole 17 to the right
Hole 18 Uphill to the left

Now if only I could remember this when I'm playing it !!
