Laws around advertising on your home

Bit of a strange one that is hopefully suited to this subforum (please move if not) - Basically we have a rather large roadside wall on our home that is in bad need of being painted. I am planning to do this shortly, but had a thought. What if I allowed a company to use it for advertising for a period e.g. 12 months in return for reimbursement (be it through painting, financial payment etc.) - are there laws surrounding this? It is right next to a main road, footpath beside it, essentially in city centre. Obvious problems include graffati and embarassment depending on the ad (nobody wants tampons advertised outside their house :P), but humour me if you will. Thanks

you need to check with your local planning authority (co council)

Exempted development for advertising is 30cm2, i think, which is pretty small for a roadside advert. You would need to apply for planning permission.

Exemptions for advertising set out in Planning Regs 2001.

Check your transfer/lease, especially if part of an estate - there may be a covenant against advertising.
