What's the problem with the power steering?
Has it been going on a month, or do you only have the car a month?

Rule number one, when it comes to main dealers, Cheap and Good don't usually go hand in hand.

AC Car Sales/Service are now based on the Naas Road at Bluebell and specialise in German Marques. I'm not recommending them as I know nothing about them but they are near you

have an 02 A4, went to the dealer I bought from for the first service and was charged 450euro. hit the roof and argued it down to 350. As I was leaving one of the juniors from the service Dept called me aside and suggested in future i take my car to their "overflow" garage as main delaer was charging 75euro an hour and keeping the car all day to make up the bill. took the advice back in 2008 and never looked back.

He is located in North Strand
    Tom Courtney motors
Bessborough ave North Strand 3 Co. Dublin

second right after the canal bridge as you travel north from the city beyond the five lamps

Honest and busy (surely a good sign)

    They specialise in Merc/Audi/BMW

Oh no! If you have electromechanical power steering it probably needs a new electric rack. Brace yourself for a 1500 euro bill. Common failure on VAG /Audi cars. My mum went through two racks on a 06 golf and it may need a third.

My motto now is if it doesnt have have hydraulic fluid power steering I would be reluctant to own it. Electric power steering feels rubbish in comparison also.

Those hydraulic racks aren't much better, common issue on VAGs, 750 yoyos from a stealers ex labour.

First thing you notice is a buzzing noise and after you refill it your realise its leaking into the boots .. they can hold allot

I got a refurb in the end for 400 euros and got an indy to fit it.

For info - Audi main garage in Dublin [north side] charged €1100 for water pump and timing belt, VW main garage in Newry charded €405 [£345], same garage in Dublin charges €159 for rear brake pads, same garage in Newry charges €100 [£85] - both pieces of work for an Audi A4. Newry garage excellent and quick and uses genuine Audi parts, guess where i'll be going......

I know most dealers are rip off but christ!

I struggle to imagine that people who pay these prices, especially on something basic like an A4, are anything other then down right stupid!
