I thought this deserved a thread of its own. It has been reported that Jim Carrey will star in the Season finale of The Office.

Jim Carrey has been reportedly signed on to appear in the upcoming season finale of The Office.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will join the hour-long episode, which is due to air on May 19, as another potential candidate to fill the vacant office manager position left by Steve Carell's character Michael Scott.

Carrey joins previously announced guest stars Catherine Tate, Ray Romano and James Spader as well as Will Arnett, all of whom are expected to lobby for the job.

The Office actor and producer Paul Lieberstein previously hinted that Carell's replacement may already have been chosen but is being kept secret in order to maintain suspense.

Actress and writer Mindy Kaling recently revealed the character names chosen for the guest stars.

Meanwhile, Carell's final episode of The Office will air during an extended 50-minute slot on April 28.

The Office airs on Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.

The Season Finale has went from being potentially good to be potentially brilliant with Gervais, Arnett, Ferrell and now Carrey in the finale. If Carrey gets the manager position, it could be the best thing to happen to TV in a while!

I like Carrey.. but what he's done recently has been awful!

Why he didn't continue dramatic roles like 'The Truman Show' and 'Eternal Sunshine' (forget about 'The Number 13') instead of starring in movies with penguins is beyond me!

Just thought I'd hijack this thread to see if anyone's heard that Catherine Tate is going to be taking over the Steve Carrell role next year? Apparently, there's a bunch of famous people and Tate interviewing for the manager's role tonight and she's one of the frontrunners to be coming back next year (presumably because she's nothing else to do).

Good. I can safely stop watching now. I frigging loathe Tate.

You might want to put a Spoiler tag on that, incase someone hasn't heard. But it isn't definite yet, but it is the word on the internet. Could they have found a way to keep Creed as manager. :D

I hope Will Arnett gets it.

Me too, but looking doubtful with his new Series airing in the fall.

I thought it was a mixture of speculation and wishful thinking (on other people's parts). Hardly a spoiler. Would love Creed as a pemanent manager, or Andy. Actually I think Carell's leaving would be the best time to draw the series to a close.

Jaysis, Jim Carrey definitely didn't get much screentime there, did he? Have to say that the best bits were the star cast - Ray Romano was great, as was Will Arnett. I just really dislike Catherine Tate, but it's looking like she could get the managerial position.

I hate Will Ferrill but this show somehow has the ability to make even him funny. I think Carrey (who by comparison is actually good) could be an interesting guest.

Must go now and get my American Cousin to post the ep to me on video tape.

Slightly dissapointed that they didn't work in a Will Arnett expensive suit joke, if they weren't going to pick him it'd be the perfect homage.

nope it wasn't worth its own thread

So I sat through an hour of that and we still don't know who got the job. Absolutely disgusted. Without a doubt the best bits of the episode were Creed's moments. The Acronym moment was brilliant, and spelling business "Bizyness". I was hoping the guest stars would get more time, and Carrey's appearance seemed almost pointless. I was probably expecting too much from the Finale, but I won't be tuning in next Season.

Jim Carrey is hilarious. He's had some misses but the good far outweight the bad.

Actually, mentioning here in the title that he's in this ep only serves to ruin any impact he might have made in it. It's clearly just meant as a throwaway bonus joke and now it can't even be that much.
