    Hi guys,
Quick one here, I'm wondering has anyone any ideas?!

My car insurance expires this coming sunday night and stupidly I just didn't get round to renewing it yet, I intended to do it today. I rang the broker I deal with - closed for Good Friday, and I assume will be closed on Monday too. I then called the actual insurance company that I'm with (Allianz) and its the same problem - call center is closed.!

What to do  Am I now uninsured on Monday through to Tuesday morning (when the country eventually wakes up again?)...

    Any suggestions?

dont drive, im sure if you get caught, itll be your fault for not renewing in time, unless they have some sort of 24 hours grace

do you need to be driving?

No, I can probably manage without it on Monday alright... but I'd also be concerned about even leaving it parked !

renew online with anyone. Just incase your car gets nicked...you can always cancel the new policy if you get it cheaper elsewhere.

Either take out a policy with Quinn online or something and then immediately cancel, or just stay at home on Monday.

    I'd just stay at home.

Doesn't you insurance still cover you from 14 days after the policy expiry date?

That's what I thought, was the case with AXA when I was with them before.

Shop around on line, you might even get it cheaper than the renewal quote. Otherwise just wait as folks have said.

Thanks lads, yeah I'd thought of just renewing online with someone else and I'd already done the shopping around bit. I was hoping to avoid that hassle though so I'll probably opt with the "stay at home" option.

I would be very wary driving on this. Some companies offer it, but I'd say the T&Cs would be terrible.

By law you've a 7 day cooling off period with distance sales, over the net, and AFAIK insurance gives 14 days. Just take out any policy online then cancel on Tuesday if you haven't crashed. There's no hassle.
