My friend was using my laptop earlier to play portal 2 on a guest account while I was at work. It messed up and long story short he needed to login to my account to get it working again. I wouldn't give him my password as its my password for alot of things and I don't give anyone my password.

He says ive got trust issues.

Would you share your password(s) with your close mates?

    Hell, no.
I hardly even give my laptop password to my gf (and that's only for using my laptop) no way I'd give out a password that can log in to anything important.

They frape me enough without me adding fuel to the fire.

NO, everyone is entitled to their privacy. I’ve nothing to hide, but I wouldn’t give my password to my closed friend.

My sister knows most of my passwords. I've told my mom previously when I needed her to log into my email for something. But that's about it. I'm pretty sure my mother isn't gonna frape me ..or at least I hope not :o

my GF knows all my passwords,

mates though? nah it'd leave me open to frape. although i'd happily give my PIN and email password i'd say

    ehhh... nope...

and i always use different ones for everything so if one is found out the others are not.

reason being i know one of my brothers passwords and its amazing the amount of things involve 4 numbers.

    House alarm
    Telephone answer
    pin number
    Vodafone password....

How many of you have all the same...;)

I would share my pin and passwords with select few of my friends, only concern now is fraping though :(

No way. What's the point of having one if you're going to tell people it?

I wouldn't mind maybe if I was asking them to log in and check something

You shouldn't use the same PW for a lot of things anyway OP

Only yesterday, a friend of mine wanted my password to a certain thing, for good reason. Again, it's my password for almost everything. So I had to change it and give him my new password and change it back again when he was finished!

I have given my password to friends or gamil on many occasions - so they can do things for me or get information out of my gmail or facebook etc - however I would usually change it afterwards.

Having the same password for everything is a very bad idea. My facebook, Gmail, boards, PayPal all have different passwords. I know this may seem like a pain to manage, but it's not. I would highly recommend everyone use a little program called www.lastpass.com its brilliant. Log on at the start on any computer, and it auto fills all your usernames and passwords for you, stores them all encrypted online - its an absolutely lifesaver. Give it a try.

When I was younger I had my password as something really stupid, like sexysomething69somethingxxxxxxxxxxxx<3. That was one I had been planning on taking to the grave with me.

My brother knows most of my internet passwords, except my email or my paypal passwords. Hsving the same password for everything is stupid.

I gave my password for 2 of my accounts to a mate I really trust. I got them to change the password so I couldn't get back on.
Now I need to complete this Leaving Cert and get them back T_T

No way! It would give them access to private messages sent to you by other friends and that's disrespecting their privacy aswell!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 882 ✭✭✭fulhamfanincork

    I tell everyone everything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,130 ✭✭✭Azureus

    Nope.
Gave my old social networking account passwords to a friend who wanted to get pictures from it but definately wouldnt give out anything that still in use.

I know my boyfriends PIN code for the bank and probably a couple of passwords but Id never use them unless I got his permission first-there was always a reason (usually to benefit him/do a favour for him) to why I had them in the first place. He probably knows mine too, Im not sure, but I use a different password/pin number for everything.

My whole family knows my password and so do a couple mates.
And if I'm setting up a family member with a new account on anything, I usually use that password for that too.

I vary it slightly by throwing in a number or two here and there.

I've nothing really to hide on my PC or on any social networking sites that I use so I don't see a problem with it. And seeing as the people that know the password know me that way, they wouldn't be arsed logging into anything.

Also, between our mates we've regularly given eachother an ATM card and a pin to go get a round of pints in a pub or some money out of the ATM for them.

I don't understand the big song and dance some of you are making about the PIN. Yes, it may be a personal identification number, but you won't be doing a whole lot without the card itself so I don't see the big deal with it. Obviously don't give it to everyone but if you know your mates well, you should know whether you trust them or not.
I wouldn't hang around with a thief anyways so I don't worry about that with any of my mates.

Only one person knows my universal password. We're not exactly friends but I'd trust her with my life so I haven't bothered changing it since she found out what it was. Apart from that, I probably wouldn't tell anyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,246 ✭✭✭conor.hogan.2

Id let them use my laptop or phone or whatever, but give them my password? no.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,572 ✭✭✭✭brummytom

Never in a million years, ever. There are one or two people I'd trust with my life, and all of my secrets. But my password? Fuck that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Cianos

I've given my password to a couple of people before, the last time was when I was in a very tight spot and had to ring someone back home and ask them to log in to my email to check something, which was going to help me decide whether I had to drive nonstop for 24 hours or not... (thankfully not).

As for PIN numbers, whether you share it with people or not if you are claiming you've been defrauded one of the questions they ask is if you've ever shared your PIN with anyone. If you say you have, it will be next to impossible to get reimbursed.

A guy I know uses this strategy to save his bank from repaying people...he's literally blocked thousands of euro going back to broke grannies who have been scammed, who at some point in the conversation admitted that they might have given their PIN to their daughter one time.

If I have to give someone my password I then change it at the first opportunity. I don't know my OH's password and he's never asked for mine.

I give my mates me steam password... not my facebook or email though.
