    Hi,

Looks like I need to run some Windows software in my Mac, any thoughts on any of these products? I'd prefer not to have to reboot.

    Thanks in advance.

VMWare and Parallels can use the Bootcamp partition, giving you the best of both worlds.

As for the choice between VMWare and Parallels, VMWare has more features I believe, but Parallels is faster at the moment. There's also VirtualBox which is free.

You could try Crossover which does not require Windows OS. See is your app. here since it is an emulator not all are available.

Had both a few years back and I was a bigger fan of VMWare...

    Didn't use Crossover...

Have had Parallels on an iMac for almost 12 months now. No problems at all - running W7 64x.

Only thing it won't identify is a firewire port - so importing from a Camcorder is out on the Windows side. No problem in Mac OS.

    Hope that helps.:)

Virtualbox works perfect for me and is free. I did mostly coding or webdev stuff on it along with access (shudders) and it wasn't noticeable i was on a VM in fact it ran win7 better than most versions ive used.

If you are considering Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion there is a feature comparison on Wikipedia.

For gaming, take the extra 1-2 minutes and use Bootcamp.
