Query -is there a speed limit buffer zone?

The scenario: I'm driving in an 80 km/h zone at 80. I take a bend and see 100m ahead a 50 km/h sign. I am conscious of traffic behind me so I ease off the accelerator. However, I haven't reached 50 by the time I reach the sign.

Must I hit the brakes hard, or continue to allow a gentle slowing of speed?

How far into the zone am I allowed exceed the limit while slowing before I will be prosecuted?

In other words, will prosecutions take place immediately past the speed sign, or is there a buffer zone to allow for de-acceleration, and if so, how far is it?

Have the new speed vans been given instructions about the minimum distance past a sign before they can activate their traps?

If there is a camera van there then i would say you should be at or under the limit before you go into it, to be on the safe side.
Suppose the law states that there is a 20 metres allowance.
Do you (not you personally!:)) really want to push it? What if you get a cranky garda pulling you over and ticketing you. You then end up contesting it in court maybe. All over pushing to the limit of the law.

There is no "buffer zone". The limit is the limit at the sign.

Hence the reason for regularly seeing the new speed trap vans just inside limit changes.
