    Hi everyone!

I am heading away travelling for 4 months and thought it might be a good idea to invest in a netbook... all we will be using it for really is internet (skype, email, fb etc), storing photographs from our travels, watching movies on long bus journeys and maybe itunes. Would anyone recommend a good one for this or what sort of spec I should be looking for etc?

    Thanks a mill! :D

most netbooks have similar spec. asus generally best for battery life. would advise an 11.6 inch as opposed to 10 inch screen - weigh pretty much the same but far more usable - especially when you are going to be using it almost every day over a year period. acer 751h is one that you can get cheap. not superfast but will do the job - light, 11.6 and good resolution.

Tbh, i'd be going for the smallest netbook i could get. And just a heads up, i wouldn't rely on a netbook to store/backup photos. I'd invest in a few 8GB+ usb sticks and save copies to them. And use cloud storage if you can.

I disagree - the weight is within about 100g and the size difference in a backpack is also very small as screen is measured diagonally. have you ever used a 10 inch or smaller netbook regularly - it's a total pain.

I have a 10" and used it as a primary computer for almost a year!
