Sarcasm is one of my FAVORITE forms of wit and I have seen it demonstrated here on boards brilliantly by some posters..

As someone pointed out 'Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit only to those who have never mastered the art, and those who always fall victim to it.'.

Discuss with suitable and scathing sarcasm.

the person who said its the lowest form of wit was being sarcastic,
I suspect, it was the same person who said " Ireland, the land of saints and scholars"

    Yes.

Now ask yourself this: Was my answer based on how I truly feel, or was I being sarcastic?

It can be used on different people in different ways tho..
there is the super intelligent sarcasm that only someone on your wavelength will get, and then theres the in your face sarcasm that you use on people who ask stupid questions. My MIL came over today and picked up a lettuce that was on the kitchen counter and said 'ooh, is this a lettuce', to which I replied scathingly 'No' but she didnt get it..

i think its appropriate at certain times.

ryan tubridy is a good example of someone who thinks he is witty when hes not. the character he portrays is one of sad, angry man with no confidence and he tries to cover it up with sarcasm

Well timed use of sarcasm is one of the best forms of humour imho

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

It's the lowest form of wit when used by people for the sole purpose of being a cúnt.

I'd call it the lowest form if you're just parroting someone in a sarcastic tone, but a well-timed line can be brilliant.

Sarcasm is great when it's dry and witty - not when it's 'smug' though, smug is bad sarcasm.

This is true, I usually find sarcasm very funny but sometimes it's just plain bitchy and not particularly funny, or else so smug and annoying that it makes you imagine slapping someone.

It is 100% the best form of wit, in my opinion. I love using sarcasm and hearing other people use it. If someone is reeeallly good at it, it can be so funny, and actually pretty clever. A friend of mine is great at it, she's so subtle about it and it works so well, cuts right through ya.

    I'm never sarcastic about anything.

I think sarcasm is a great trait to have but if used in a way as to demean someone then i think its out of order. Im not sarcastic:mad:
