    Árrain Mhór (arranmore) upgrade

    Hi,
Is there anyone here with any insider info as to when this transmitter is likely to be upgraded, also whats the usual analogue downtime associated with the upgrade, as this transmitter was down for a full day 2 weeks ago and I thought that it may be due to the upgrade.

    Thanks

Machaire Rabhartaigh is currently live according to info on www.saorview.ie

If you are in the area (má tá cónaí ort sa cheantar) you might pick up the signal from there.

Highly unlikely to pull signal in from Magheraroarty, the reason we got a TX in the 90s is that the hills blocked decent UHF signals from all the others on the mainland - as were the towns/villages in the shadow of same.

No, Magheraroarty is used for Magheraroarty, Falcarragh, Ardsbeg, Gortahork etc, as they are blocked from arrain mhor and Truskmore.(although some of these areas also had their own relays but it seems that Magheraroarty is going to be used for all of them with DTT) I mainly install in around Gweedore - Dungloe which although many areas can recieve a good Truskmore with a good mast mounted outdoor Antenna, lower lying areas rely on Arrain Mhor. Strange that when they had a crew up doing Magheraroarty they didn't do Árrain Mhór next,

The Kinsale analogue was down for nearly a week (last week) during the upgrade and RTE told nobody what was going on. A day would seem too short.
