Last week i gave the inside of my washing machine a good clean, In the rubber were i took out a load of scum and other crap. then i put it on a 90' empty wash with some bleach then a few day later it started to smell. The clothes are clean but they don't seem to get the nice smell from the fabric softner.

There is a prev , thread on the forum if memory serves me.

One thing I find helps is to leave you w machine door open for a few days (hols etc), helps dry out and kill any mildew

I have used a product that I only got recently and it really works - no BS - It's a product called affresh - comes in a tablet form and .... to my surprise - smells are gone. Got it in Dublin from a site called spareparts.ie or something like that -it's expensive though but it really works

Not a good idea to use bleach

To clean your washing machine use vinegar, it dissolves any limescale, and will not affect the rubber. No need for expensive products. Add a pint of vinegar and run the thing through on a hot wash. The rinse will get rid of any vinegar smell, and Bob's your mother's sister's husband :D
