A cute guy came up to me and chatted with me in McGowans (Phibsboro, Dublin) about a week ago on a Thurs night. He put his hand on my side as he spoke and it was adorable! lol
I wish I made a move on him! I didn't want to make a fool of myself in case he was straight and he was a bit drunk too. My friend, who was with me, also knew him a bit. I'm always more reticent in a straight place. i HOPE I happen to see him out again, maybe in McGowans again.

How do others here make a move on a guy in a straight place? (question to guys)

Well I wouldnt make a pass at him, but id ask him for his number and/or maybe mutter in his ear about going somewhere quiter? You can gauge by his reponse if its ''manly'' banter or something more! :D

Touching you as they're talking isn't that unusual for people to do with each other, but it's normally the shoulder or arm or something but if he put his hand on your side I would say that's slightly different, depending on the exact location of his hand. If it was near your armpit I'd think nothing more of it, but if it was near your hip I'd tend to think he was being a bit forward and was maybe testing the water. Then again, if you didn't know him and he just approached you and straight away started putting his hands on you, perhaps he was very forward, or just completely off his tits drunk!

I agree but if you ask him for his number, he'd be wondering why you wanted it. That's as much a come-on as anything! He could suddenly say he's not gay and look horrified! lol

Another time, at the Xmas market on the docklands, a "straight" guy was TOTALLY coming onto me...he was cute enough but just wasn't into him enough to see it thru...also I could tell he was very closeted.

Okies. Well, there's the scene and then there are non-scene options. It depends on your circumstances and what you want. There is also gaydar etc...

    Are you HOT? lol

On a night out a few months ago, saw this guy I thought he might be gay. So I was talking to him and I happened to mention I would go later on to <insert name of gay club here>. Well, I had a bit of fun that night :D

add him as a Facebook friend

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

You said one of your friends knew him. Why don't you ask them for help?

Actually, a few years ago also in McGowan's there was this good lookin college guy (it was students night, drinks were cheap :D), i was pretty sure he was gay. But didn't gather the courage to talk to him. When I finally looked for him, he was gone... :( I told his "best girl friend" I thought he was cute and she was all aaaawwwww and ooooohhhh, but he was taken anyway

I would never think of McGowans as a place to score... same as Coppers haha, but you never know

.... should go back to McG :D
