Bounce on wedges

    was looking at wedges and there is an option of 5 or 8 degree bounce, can someone explain the difference, why choose one over the other, and why they offer an option at all?

    They are both lowish bounce wedges anyway, suitable for a gap wedge but not a sand wedge imo.

    thanks for that, kind of obvious I suppose now that you point it out. I had guessed it was a measure of how the ball bounced off the face.
