OP, give some details of the car and some more information on the starting problem and you will get a better response.

156 alfa romeo .the ignition is turning over but its like no fuel getting to engine.if put into first gear it kicks in sometimes.could it be the coil pack or imobliser

Could be many things to be fair. Check the battery with a multimeter first.

After the cold spell last year my dads Laguna was doing something similar. A new battery sorted it.

CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR! I know because I have plenty of experience with 156's that somtimes wont start and I can tell you now it's the said sensor. Your engine management system may not log the dodgy sensor either :)

Is the orange 'key' symbol on? If so it's a key-code issue... Come to think of it if the car is giving a 'kick' then it's not the immobiliser.

If its a petrol version then my guess ( with little information) is a cam position sensor. Common issue with these symtoms. What year is car? I'm guessing a 2000?

You can buy it from this site. I went to Alfa themselves and bought mine. Not sure how much I paid for them, must dig up the receipts.

Genuine sensors are 'bosh' by the way. Maybe a genuine one would be best in this case. I'm thinking micks garage sell spurious ones and at that price you would get a genuine one.

Got stuck on Coast Road, Dublin this eve in my 03 147 and had to be rescuded by AA,,got towed half way home..
Engine management system warning light and message came on leaving Howth, cat cut out but started, warning light stayed on...car cut out at next set of lights and wouldnt start at all..
Rang AA, car started when guy came out (engine had cooled down)
He followed me home...car cuy out again on N4 and wouldnt start and I had to be towed home..

Error is engine management system error so I assume I need a new camshaft sensor?
AA guy suggested that a good clean MIGHT do it...

Anyone got good instructions as to when I'd find the sensor??

    Cheers
