    Hi plumbers,
I cut into what looks like 15mm black rigid pipework that is supplying a toilet and tap. I want to replace a section with 1/2" flexible qualpex pipe and use compression joints.
How do i join up the old pipe as my compression fittings dont fit. ( the old pipe had a compression fitting already on what looks like a narrowed section)

I know, i should'nt have cut it first
    appreciate any help

thats wavin pipe it was installed in the 80s usually as far as i know .
What you need to do is get a wavin straight that you need to glue on .
On one side you can compress a standard fitting on it , on the other side you must glue it to the wavin pipe , go to a plumbers suppliers . make sure the pipe is bone dry when you glue it . i would ask for a adaptor for 15mm wavin pipe to standard pipe.

ya sand or a light file just to remove paint , make sure its clean and fully dry before glueing , then leave it alone a few mins to go off properly.

Everything outkast said is correct , but if the toilet and basin is off the mains and the pressure is strong you may have to use high pressure glue , and when glueing it you are supposed to let it set for an hour for every bar of pressure

thanks ,its run off the tank but i will leave enough of time to dry.
as a matter of interest, would ye know how the old joints were "narrowed " to
take the rings for the compression joint and how they were bent
I tried heating the offcut with a lighter to soften but it did'nt work.

Before my time im afraid to know all the tricks to working with it , these days we usually are just stripping it back or out completely and using the adaptors to connect.

The wavin should soften though i would only use a gas torch
