Worms in the canal

    I have no idea who to ask so i am trying here first.I was down at the canal and seen very long threadlike black worms.I never seen anything like them before and was wondering if any of you know what they are.They are about 12 ins long

    I seen the exact same thing, i though it was a baby eel, so i pulled it out of the water to have a quick look. It must be some sort of gross worm/leech ha.
    I'd be real interested in knowing what exactly they are
