I got a full service today and they didn’t put a reminder sticker anywhere.

Would I be right that id need a mini service in three thousand miles and then full service in six thousand miles? Its vaguely what i remember from talking to the fella at the counter.

    Thanks for any information!

Mini service in 3 thousand seems a bit soon unless it's an EVO or something, what car is it?

It'll all be laid out in your service book, assuming you have one.

@Onkle Its a 2002 Toyota Corolla with just on 66 on the clock

@Anan1 You would think that, but I didn't get one. I got a tatty old manual and then the book to hold it after having to ask. I bought the car from a main dealer as well.

No need for services every 3k. 6-9k is fine.

So would you recommend I just do a full service around that 6-9k mark?

I'm not certain of they exact intervals of that Corolla sorry. It would need an oil and filter change (mini service) every 6-9k. Air filter and plugs (full service items) may not be needed as often. Any good garage will look after it for you.

Grand stuff thanks, Colm on here seems to be the expert on Toyota, so hopefully hell read this thread.

Most Toyota's are every 15,000km so whatever that is in miles.

No need to service it every 3k miles though, sounds like the garage is just trying to get you back in to spend more money (if that's what they suggested)

Service every 9000 miles, Air filter every 18000 miles, Plugs every 36000 miles. All the rest should be done as and when needed

Ill have to drop into them tomorrow and get the sticker or even the figure from them and write it on the receipt.

oil/filter change and inspection is due every 15,000kms assuming its a petrol. Airfilter is due every 45,000kms, standard spark plugs every 60,000kms etc

Thanks for all the replies and information.

I went up to the place and they said the next service is due in around 10K. I hardly drive, so this will be in two years or maybe more.

If that's the case you should service it annually, driving on oil that's 2 years old isn't a good idea

Thats grand thanks, that will be a low cost five minute job. Keep the engine running sweet.

Also regularly keep an eye on the oil level as the VVTi engines of that era like to use a bit more oil as the miles and age stack up.

A bit of a stupid question, but I take it if the oil gets badly low, the light comes on on the dash?

The light on the dash lets you know that the oil is so low that oil pressure is being lost and damage is being done. The dipstick is for checking the oil level, not the oil light:eek:

AAAHH, don't worry im not that bad, I always assumed the light warned you of oil being low. I do about 3K a year, but ill make sure to keep an eye on the oil as the miles build up!
