If i buy a car from cargiant.co.uk and i purchase an AA warranty with it(in the uk) will the AA cover the car in Ireland?

Also are there any other good company websites for buying cars in the uk other than autotrader.co.uk carshop.co.uk cargiant.co.uk usedcarsni.com ?

So many people are bringing cars in from the uk these days maybe we need a sticky with website and the pitfalls etc.

I've bought 6 cars from the UK in the last 10 years. Each time the sale agreed was 'as is' if it wasn't covered under manufacturers warranty. After the manufacturers warranty is up then buy a local 'n'th year cover here. As far as I was aware any independent/generic warranty purchased by a UK garage would not be honoured here (unless UK resident was holidaying in Ireland etc).

If you're buying a car 'as is' then this should be reflected in the purchase price on the day.

Having said that I work with a lad who bought a Merc E class from CarGiant in 2009. There was some issues with the car after 2 weeks. I can't remember what the problem was tbh, but he was advised to bring his car to a local Merc dealership for a fix and the work was paid/refunded by CarGiant. Fair play to them imo.

If you're buying in the UK do a HPI check... well worth the price of the service.

WRT AA cover here in Ireland? I'd say pick up the phone and ask AA Ireland. Maybe ask the garage in the UK to purchase Irish cover for you if that is possible. Or agree a price for the car whereby you buy the cover yourself?
