An A for effort Sony: probably ahead of its time, but held back by the often ludicrous PSN store prices and selection.

I was really surprised they thought it was a good idea in the first place.
It was a gimped version of the older model. It was way overpriced. Selection of games were **** and over priced.
It's like they wanted it to fail to be honest. They could have tried the digital distribution without the creation of this device.

Would have preferred if they took the time wasted on R&D and improved PSN

Actually, I thought it was an excellent idea. A PSP with no UMD drive [meaning better battery life], with all the current games on the PSP ported over to digital format...

The problems arose when they couldn't deliver on the idea for the reasons you state below.

    PSPGone
It was a good idea for people that wouldn't want to buy UMDs, it had 16gb to hold a good amount of games (around 14, give or take 2), the slider was pretty good idea for making it more portable and small.

However, the main flaw was that no publishers/developers bothered their a**es to put games on the store. There are still many games (FFVII Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and others) not on the store, years after release. FFI/I was only recently put on after being on UMD a good bit.
THAT was it's main downfall, IMO. If most games (especially those that sold well, KHBBS/FFVIICC) were put on the store, it would have done much better.

Hoepfully Sony makes NGP execution WORK properly (They'll have no choice, now!)

My logic was why would I buy a PSPgo when I can put a 32gb in a standard psp while also having the umd drive and have all that for less.
    Its existence meant no sense.

I'm not disagreeing with you. My point is it was a very good idea but executed very poorly.

Anyway, I hope they have learned their lesson now and the NGP is done properly.

With the work they've put into the NGP, you'd imagine they'll be putting a lot of time into it to ensure that it's a viable competitor to the 3DS.
