Hi Guys, I am heading to Rosscarberry next week for a weeks holidays and am interested in playing in Lisselan Golf Club on one of the week days.

I am just wondering what is it like to play? I understand that it is a nine hole course but does it get confusing if you play 18 holes?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi ssbob
Only played it the once but it is nice little quirky course. You get into a lift type thing and get pulled up the hill from 1st to 2nd hole if i remember correctly. There is island green on one of last holes where i was told when water up you had to get raft over and back, time i played it think there was bridge.Nice hole tho.

As for it being only 9holes you play from slightly different tees than first time round but basically same thing really.
As said its nice little track and you should enjoy it

Rosscarberry pitch and putt is on the area too, its at warran strand, near the celtic ross hotel. A lovely challanging links p & p. well worth a visit.

I played Bunclody 2 years ago i think it was. The fella in the clubhouse was very proud of the fact that the club was the only golf club in Europe that had a lift on it. U need to get a lift from the 17th green up 4 floors to reach the 18th tee box.

I remember thinking to myself, fcuk that buddy, there's a little 9 hole in cork where u need to get not 1 but 2 trams & a boat just to get around the 9holes.

Cracker of a course. 1st is a lovely par 3. 2nd is a monster long par 4. Aim for the tree right in the middle of the fairway just 20yards odd before the green. 3rd, easy short downhill par 4 with a pond in front of the green.

4th, is a monster par 5. Stay left at all costs. 5th is a gorgeous par 3 with an elevated tee. 6th is a par 4 where accuracy off the tee is essential. 7th is a par 5 first time round and a par 4 the second tee round. 8th hole is the par 5. U gotta lay up with your second and wedge it onto the green then.

9th is a very short par 4. Simply 5iron up the centre and a wedge to the green.

    Enjoy it sham!

Thanks Curly, actually have a holiday home in Rosscarberry so thats where we are going. Played that pitch and putt course quite a few times and it is fun but just wanted to get out on the golf course in Lisselan.

Hi Bailey99, thanks very much for the info. At least I will have a plan now when I go there.

I was a member at Lisselan before I joined Bandon and I must say I still love going back there for the odd 9 holes.

It's got some fantastic holes, I especially love the 3rd and the 6th.

You might want to bring plenty of balls though because some of the drives are unforgiving to say the least.

    Enjoy.
