This morning I noticed water dripping from the ceiling in my kitchen, the main bathroom is just above it. Should I contact the builder of the house or a plumber. I have had the house 2 and half years.

to start with u should turn off the hot and cold taps and try see what the issue is, shower/bath/toilet/wash handbasin/bidet/etc

If the water gets too much the ceiling could fall in.

I would start with a plumber but ceiling may need redoing if water damage severe

thanks, would it worth mentioning to Homebond as I am going contact them about cracks i have in my walls and ceilings and some of these aren't settlement cracks. Or do they just deal with structural damage.

It could be a number of things:

    1. Is the hot press above the Kitchen? If so could be a valve that has come loose. Happened to me several times (in house for 3 yrs).

    2. Radiator is leaking

    3. Shower not sealed correctly

Whatever it is, I would get a plumber out straight away.

OP was correct in saying that it could bring down ceiling. Probably as a result of severe frost during winter.

You will get nowhere with the builder or homebond on this.

My first bet would be to look in under the bath

at the back of the basin

    or behind the toilet.

If there is no signs it could be a screw gone through the pipe when the tiled floor was put down and its starting to rust away.

have had it looked at and it appears the waste disposal unit hasn't been connected properly and that is what was causing the leak. The bathroom wasn't used that much until recently.

pardon my ignorance for not knowing the correct terminalogy but where teh water goes down the drain, the stopper wasn't fitted correctly and the thing to pull it up and down wasn't attached correctly.
