New car recommendations?

At the moment I'm driving a kia though the car is very reliable I think it's bland and boring as only air conditioning was an additional option.
I have only ever had Kia so I have no clue what car is good only the VW but there too expensive.
My price range would be max 15,000 plus my car as a trade. As my car is 2010 I would be expecting over 10,000 trade in value. That would total the cost up to 25,000.
Any ideas? what is a normal priced car with cruise control, bluetooth parking sensors and trustworthy for 25,000?

Best car going for a young woman imo with everything you'd want. Sporty feel; add on 17" alloys and she'd look the part.

Any particualr engine size you wont go below or above?
You looking for saloon, hatchback etc?
    Preferably diesel or petrol?
Does it have to be a brand new car?

Brand new and diesel I don't mind the body kit if saloon def parking sensors but I wouldn't be too fussed if the hatch back didn't have them

Alfa Giulietta (as posted above) or a new Citroen C4 1.6Hdi VTR+ 110bhp.

Alfa is better to drive, but the C4 should come in quite a bit cheaper, is bigger inside and has slightly better specification.

two words, ford focus. best selling car of the last 11 years for a very good reason. i've gone through 51,000 km in 22 months and i've only replaced tyres. the boot is huge in comparison to its rivals. i'm 6'2" and in my seat position there's still good room in the back. i got everything i need in it. and the best thing is that it's properly good to drive. i've driven the golf, leon, cee'd, astra and c4 and nothing comes close.
some guy didn't stop going onto the road in front of me a few weeks ago. i just about avoided him but i know if i had a golf or an astra i'd have hit him.
don't listen to the person recommending the alfa or citroen. too unreliable. you save money on the car's cost but you'll have nothing but trouble with it.

The OP finds the Kia bland and boring, surely the same must apply to the golf, astra and focus. At least the C4 and Alfa are different. Also modern Alfa's are reliable, especially the diesels.

OP do you need 5 doors? The DS3 seems to be a great little car.

No 5 or 3 door wouldn't matter to me. I like the megane coupe but again I don't know the reliability. I was recommended alfo romeo nice car and saw one in the flesh last week and it stood out a mile.

I hope you've serviced it too?
the boot is huge in comparison to its rivals. .

The new focus boot is at least 10% smaller than the first 3 cars I picked to check (Auris , Megane, C4) and even the old Focus is only marginally bigger than the Megane and Auris while the C4 is Bigger.

Anyway, you could put a focus in the Octavias boot. :)

I think this kind of "man down the pub told me" advice speaks for itself.

You'd pick up a top spec Megane in any of the 3 body styles for well withing your budget.

The mother has an Estate coming up on a year and 15k km without issue. None of the review sites have anything bad to say about reliability so far. They are out nearly 2 years now.

Personally Id be looking French or Italian if it was my money. I dont go in for the Germans or Japanese myself and havnt regretted it in the last 11 years of driving them.

you couldn't recommend alfa romeo. even the mito and 159 suffer from complete electrical failure. giulietta is newer but i'd rather not risk it. the only company that's been proven more unreliable is land rover. citroen isn't much better.

Ya I guess trade in value is terrible unless you drive a good car. I wouldn't be a big fan of VW cars the only thing near to a VW i would like is a seat leon

I'd be a bit wary of a Japanese car myself, The megane is nice looking and they do fantastic trade in deals actually heading to a renault garage today

    Claptrap.

The most unreliable car I ever owned was a VW Golf. I had a Citroen Xantia with 300k on it and the engine was on the button.

159 Diesels have a great reputation, certainly better than that of early Passats and the Alfa/fiat 1.4 multiair is a great engine, far more reliable than the equivalent VAG 1.4tsi.

Resale is only one thing to factor in when you buy a car, living with a boring ugly car day to day, year on year is far more important imo.

You'd get a nice spec'ed focus for 25K. Looking at this myself. If boot space is important then go for the 4 door. It's still a hatch, just with a proper boot :-) can't be beaten on handling and reliability. No issues reselling either especially when nicely spec'ed.

The new model focus is nice lovely looking car however I have heard the focus is a very boring car interior wise

You've heard but have you seen for yourself?

The interior improves as you go up in models. The new focus is very nice even in the Edge model, which is one above the base model. 25K would get you the top spec Titanium which has a top quality interior. If you hold on until autumn or next year there will be an additional range of luxury interiors. I'd imagine you'd end up paying more than 25k though.

If you want reliability then Honda is number 1 in the world. The Civic is an excellent car, but it's outside your budget, and there's a new one out at the end of this year.
You could look at the new Focus, but personally I find Ford interiors not to my taste and the seating position too high, so I'd go for the Mazda 3 over the Focus every time. Also a very reliable car.
However, there is only one car on this thread that stands out, and it's the Alfa. By far the best looking hatch ever, and it will hold it's value alright, as the 159 did, given that people scared other people off buying them new, meaning they were rare enough second hand to hold value.
You may have trouble trading it in, but sell privately and you'll get a buyer. Anyway, nothing is holding it's value well these days.

Go for the Alfa. Be different.
