    Hi guys

My mrs is buying a MacBook pro for college

Dilemma is that we don't know wether to get the 13" MacBook pro or pay the extra 400€ approx for a 15" MacBook pro.

Is there any difference but the screen size and is it really worth paying that much extra just for 2"

It depends really. What does she need it for exactly?

I have the 13" and absolutely love it. I do a decent amount of photo editing on it and the screen is absolutely fine.

I would say the only real difference is portability. IIRC the 13" has a reasonable weight advantage and is easier to carry around/put in a bag.

I have the 15" myself and don't regret it. It's still a very portable, sleek and slim machine. What I have done is get myself a cinema display to hook up, at home. Much more screen real estate! With this set-up the difference between 13 and 15 is marginal. The cash "saved" by getting the 13" could go most of the way towards the Cinema Display! :)

13" for mobility while out and about, then when im home at my desk ill plug it into my 22" display.

    Best of both worlds.

    I went from a 2006 15" MBP to a 2010 13".
Thought it might be a problem but not at all.

    I'd say go for it.....

If it's for college, I'd definitely recommend the 13 inch over the 15 inch. Much easier to carry around. The 15 inch wouldn't even fit in my bag.

13" is a bit small, i faced the same decison and went with the 15" in the end, glad i did, as the 15" is not too big to carry around... also the i7 is nice and fast too!

It's a shame the 13" MBP has a lower resolution than the 13" MB Air at the moment. It's what made me decide to go for the 15" model. I was coming from a 13" Macbook and using XCode at that res was starting to really get on my nerves.

I don't use Photoshop, but Pixelmator felt similarly cramped at that lower res too.

Why not drop into one of those Apple resellers like CompuB and test drive each model yourself? It's really a personal thing.

my missus has a 15, i have a 13, i find hers a pain is the ass to move around, the 13 is tiny and tbh gfx isnt really utilised much by ps and not at all in lightroom so you wont see a huge boost in performance, the processor will help a bit, ram is the same on both machines and thats they key.

if its a girl, id go for the 13, when proper editing plug into a screen, the advantages of a small laptop out weigh the benifits of a larger screen imo

I dont do graphics (much) but for me the 13" is grand even why I split up the screen with windows style or with xcode screen split etc.
