How many times is that now in the space of a couple of weeks? Seen some of this on ABC News.

It's not being over hyped here. It's more an ' and finally' sort of thing, the report was clear to note that most people never noticed anything, and there was never less than three miles between them. May not have gotten as much airtime as it did were it not for the sleeping controllers, and the one guy suspended for watching a movie in the attempt to not fall asleep.

    NTM

it's not serious. the controller was working to create enough space for the lead a/c to vacate the runway before #2 landed. when they saw it wasn't going to work, the one behind was sent around.

This is not a serious incident at all,its just usual media hype about something they know nothing about. A 'Go-around' is quite normal,as beerhunter said the tower controller was just not happy with the distance, and issued a go-around. pretty standard really. anyway, implicit in a landing clearance,is the clearance to go-around.
