Phone broadband are great value and I have defended them on here.

    Sky Real Lives
    Bravo
    Bravo Plus One
    Channel One

Sky closed all these channels not the fault of UPC.

    ITV 2 3 and 4.
TV3 kicked up as they have most of the rights to this content in Ireland again not the fault of UPC.

That is 7 channels gone what has UPC done to patch the gap?
    NOTHING.

UPC has raised the their prices while their TV service has shrunk.

I hate Sky dealing with them has been a nightmare for me.

Unless UPC get the finger out I may be tempted to go back to the devil.

Agree their broadband is second to none but the TV service is now very poor value and overpriced when compared to Sky or indeed the freesat options.

There is also on inter activity and the picture quality is inferior

Simple fact is now TV from Sky is cheaper - yes Setanta & Espn are premium services but on the main stream packs there are more channels and lower prices

Btw Ranicand - Sky are offering very good deals to attract ex customers back...

Simple fact is now TV from Sky is cheaper - yes you lose Setanta Ireland & Espn, however If you keep UPC broadband thats Setanta Ireland Back.

I thought that was only with Eircom???

I'd assume he's talking about splitting the feed into the cable modem to get Setanta via analogue.

new channels 4th of may from what ive heard

May 4th / April 20th - rumours , all UPC will say is new channels are coming (very) soon - the 'very' depends on who you talk to.

They are also asking what TV and radio stations would you like to see / hear

What does UPC charge for a basic package compared to Sky does anyone know?

Sky charge by genre, while UPC group the channels into 3 packages thus it makes direct comparison difficult.

Then you have interactivity on Sky but not UPC Vs UTV/BBC3/4 automatically on UPC EGG while they need to be tuned in on Sky.

Best to look at Sky & UPC's websites

well where i work we asked for new upc leaflets and they said no because there is new packs and channels coming on may 4th so the posters and leaflets they currently have would be out of date, they still dont know what channels yet, may be all bull but just letting people know what ive heard

Basic UPC digital=43 channels for €23 pm,..... Basic UPC analogue=14 channels for €25 pm:confused: ....... Basic Sky package=230+ channels for €23 pm.

Sky+ box is also far superior to the UPC pvr and you can access the fta HD channels with it if you don't want to pay for the HD pack.

A guy posted in this very forum a few days ago that he knows a guy "high up" in UPC and we're getting the new channels this week. So there! :p

Not this week - Today ! Wednesday - so 15 minutes to go....

I do believe that UPC are actively seeking replacements for the lost ITV's/Bravo/Channel 1/Real lives but contract negotiations take time - May at the earliest in my view - as for the channels - who knows, though probably be easier to do deals with companies they already have arrangements with ie Sky & UKTV, not forgetting they are JV partners with CBS

I am not into counting channels but unless UPC can replace what we have lost by the 4th of May well I will be back to Sky.

All I want is a decent selection of channels.

I doubt it. Going through the list of potential candidates it is either a waste of time or a load of garbage.

If UPC don't get improve the TV service then I'm gone. Even the SD picture on Sky is far better. It's such a pity because I love the broadband. But ever since I switched over the TV service it's no comparison to Sky.

You don't need the UPC tv service to get broadband, they are available seperately,a lot of people have copped this and are mixing between Sky for tv and UPC for broadband.
Even with the €7.50 broadband only surcharge it still works out better value plus UPC can't touch Sky for tv.Plus the "sure you get Setanta free on UPC" argument is pretty weak as nearly all premier league games are now on Setanta 1 which costs €15 a month on UPC.
