Noob question on pedals

    Hi folks

recently got a bike for cycling to work its a good 10km cycle and doing it in 25 - 35 mins.

anyway when the bike arrived it had these Flat Pedals and i bought a set of toe clips on the internet. they don't fit but i did notice that if I was to flip the pedals there would be a way to fit the toe clips.

so, my questions is can you change the pedals on a bike around or is there anything like threads or bearings that would prevent me from doing so

    thanks

Edit: I think I misunderstood you. No, you can't flip the pedals from one side to the other, because the threads are reversed on one side to prevent the pedal from coming loose.

Yep. You can change the pedals.

For the vast majority of cases, pedals are universally interchangeable, you don't really need to worry about thread sizing unless you're looking at BMX pedals or pedals for a really old bike.

Most of us here would use clipless pedals. SPDs on MTB or commuter bikes and SPD-SL on road bikes.

You are much better off ditching the toe clips altogether. They can be dangerous - a cyclist on the KARE Tour de Foothills had quite a nasty spill because of them.

You mean put the left one on the right crank?

    No, they are threaded differently.

    EdIT: just saw Seamus' update.
