I'm currently using Astraweb as my news server but a buddy was telling me that as I'm using Eircom I could use their news server instead. Anyone know if this is possible and would I still be able to access any news group?

Dont think they do, ntl used to have one i believe.

Defiantly wont do binary download which i assume is what you use it for.

Yep, for news, not for binaries.

Try it, news1.eircom.net, port 119, no username or password, it'll tell you everything is out of retention

Its actually news1.eircom.net. Don't think its maintained much but worth a try.

The server is defunct for a while now (doesn't let me connect).
