I tasted a nice lager at the Self Sufficiency Show at Belvedere House, Mullingar. It was brewed by micro Breweyed from Banagher, Co. Offaly. Breweyed on facebook. They had pints or smaller samples available, also bottles which are really well labeled and packaged. It is available on draught and bottles in a few pubs in Banagher atm. The bottles are filtered and they have a pretty good bottling machine I would think. They have an ale too but did not have that with them, looking forward to tasting it :)

This article on Breweyed was published in a recent edition of the Offaly Independent:

    Something’s brewing in Banagher!
New company revives centuries-old beer brewing tradition
    By Adrian Cusack

A new craft brewery has been set up in Banagher, reviving a long-dormant tradition of making beer locally.
It’s believed that the last recorded reference to a brewery in the town dated from the early 1800s, but that drought has come to an end with the recent establishment of Breweyed Beers at Banagher’s Enterprise Centre.
The new company is aiming to make a big impact over the coming years by creating a tasty range of brews made from 100% natural ingredients, with no chemicals or preservatives.
The project is the brainchild of Andrew Horn, a native of Suffolk, England, who has been living in Banagher for the last two years, and local man Morgan Smyth who also operates the Silver Line Cruisers company. Andrew is the head brewer while Morgan is involved in the sales and marketing side of the business.
Andrew stated that Breweyed Beers got up and running shortly before Christmas and is currently “dipping its toe into the market.”
Its first beer, a lager, is currently available on draught in Corrigans, William Lyons and the Railway Bar in Banagher, while most of the local pubs have it on sale in bottles. Bottles of the beer are also available at the SuperValu branch in Banagher.
“There are some people who have been drinking Guinness for 20, 30 or 40 years. We know we’re probably not going to get those people to change their ways, so we’re aiming to attract a slightly younger market of people who are open to trying something new,” said Andrew. The company has a number of plans in the pipeline, including appearances at festivals in Galway and Mullingar, and the distribution of new beers such as a blonde ale, a traditional red ale and a beer matured in casks from the whiskey distillery in Kilbeggan.
If all goes according to plan, Andrew expects Breweyed Beers to grow significantly in the near future.
“We would hope to expand and employ quite a few people over the next two or three years,” he said.
