An Albright knot or Needle knot would be strongest.

The Nail knot comes very close after in strength.

But the easiest by far to do in the dark with wet hands is a figure of eight onto a loop at the top of the leader.

    Depends on circumstances I guess.

both of those are for tying the fly line to leader are they not?
i was reffering to the top fly? how its connected to the main leader? if you catch my drift? (bad pun that ha ha )...i was using a loop and single knot but when a fish took it, it slid all the way down to the end fly, and the leader was useless after it, should i have used a double knot?.... i am probably making this sound even more confusing :)

I use the surgeon's knot to attach a piece of leader to the leader for the droppers and top droppers if that's what you mean. Is an easy knot to tie with a little practice and I've never had an issue with it.

For a dropper I would also use the double uni, or 4-turn cove (surgeons) knot.

    3 or a 4 turn water knot
once the knot is tied you have a length of leader with 2 tags hanging off the knot. always cut of the one on the fly line side or upstream side and leave the downstream dropper tag in the direction of the other flies.
