what are the advantages of a 6cyl over a 4 cyl tractor?
are 6 cyl harder on diesel? and if they are by much?
the 3080 is 6cyl but its not a big long front its pretty tidy for a 6 cyl im looking at an 89 1 with a fl60 loader on it and seems to be a tdy outfit but ive no real need for a 6 cyl but if theres not much difference in the 4 cyl it mightnt be a bad buy.

I would be inclined to purchase something that fits you size and horsepower requirements and not worry about the no of cylinders. 6 cylinders are often easier to start. The 3080 is a good solid tractor but not without problems if abused.

yea i know what you mean, its a small bit too big alright only maybe 10-15 hp but might as well have a bit too big over a bit too small.

I was only wondering are they any big disadvantages of a 6 cly over a 4 cyl of roughly the same hp are they much heavier on diesel or is there anything else?

the easier startng has to be a good thing anyway.

no disadvantages that I can think of, unless a longer bonnet would be a problem in confined spaces? a tractor thats slightly over its job would be better on diesel than something under powered being thrashed
