5008 v VW Touran

    We are considering buying either a vw Touran or Peugeot 5008 - anyone any recommendations?
    3 kids between 6 months and 5yrs.

    I haven't driven the 5008, but I found the Touran very dull to drive. I ended up buying an S-Max in 2008, and it's been great.

    I think the 5008 is nice but strange looking, the Touran could not be any more dull but a good solid car all the same and from those two I would recommend a Ford S-Max. Great car.

    I guess it depends on what you want from a car, does styling matter, interior space, handling etc??

    5008 is nice to drive, has tons of room, feels a bit big when you're driving and parking it... Touran looks a bit smaller, is more expensive but given that this is Ireland and VW have a great reputation (however ill-deserved), might cost less in the long run.

    S-Max looks great but is way more expensive than either the 5008 or Touran. Grand C-Max looked quite small to me when i saw it in the showroom. No boot at all behind the 3rd row of seats, plus I think the car looks a bit odd- squashed or something.. that's just my opinion though.

    Others to consider... Mazda 5, Citroen Grand Picasso, Renault Grand Scenic, Opel Zafira.

    I can only speak of the Touran and wouldn't recommend it. We bought new in 07 and apart from minor items (e.g. cruise control stopped working, rear seat belt clips broke (our fault but easily get caught in seats), major items include gearbox replaced twice and engine once. Car has approx 60k kms....!

    VW reliability - not in this case unfortunately...
