seeing as veg oil is 99p a litre can i run my discovery 300tdi on 50/50 with diesel. plus i can get 50litres of waste veg oil every 2wks for free.
a lad told me that it's illegal but i think this is rubbish as the council drive a veg powered transit.
would anyone know the legality of this???
also if i was "dipped" will they say anything?

its not illegal if you pay the custom and excises duties for it..

    if I recall correctly

You can't use waste veg oil without processing it (you'll destroy your injector pump and injectors) and it's not straightforward. You can use straight veg oil (SVO) but need to pre heat it or mix with diesel but it's illegal if you don't declare it and you get dipped.

The transit you saw will be running on biodiesel processed from waste veg oil and will have been declared to the revenue.

The subject is covered in detail including legalities here - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056173469&page=2
