Alot of home brews ingredients include Cream of Tartar. I'm about to do a nettle brew and this is required! But can anyone tell me what is it for? And i can't find Cream of Tartar, so will Bextartar do the same job?

Pretty sure bextartar is just a brand name for cream of tartar. Cream of tartar / tartaric acid is the acidic component of baking powder (the basic component is sodium bicarb. and there's conflour for filler).

Is it likely it's there just for sourness? i.e. just for taste?

I used Bextartar in my nettle beer and it seemed to work just fine :)
