Where does my property end on a 9inch wide wall between mine and other properties?

I think your deeds would have to specifically mention that you own the boundary wall for you to own it, your neighbour likewise.
As the land registry maps are inconclusive as to where the actual boundary is, unless its glaringly obvious, I would assume you own halfway across the wall.

If your having an issue with work to the boundary wall, there are some new laws in the land reform and conveyancing act 2009
