Looking to buy a car off these guys, just wondering if anybody has any experiences positive or negative?

I read some old threads and there was a couple of complaints about the log book taking awhile to come through which has left me feeling a bit weary of dealing with them!

I will obviously do checks on Cartell and bring a mechanic with me.

    Thanks :D

My Dad had agreed on a price for an IS200 off them last year. He wanted me to have a look at it before going through with the purchase. Car was very clean and very low mileage for the year. Sales Guy dodged alot of my questions, i felt something wasn't right. Told him i wanted to do some checks before committing, there was no service history with the car. We were home an hour when the sales guy rings and says he did some checks with the lads they got the car from and it turned out the car was crashed and repaired. He said the car wasn't for my Dad!

Did a few checks myself and turns out it was written off in the UK. It disappeared from their website, only to appear in their Airport branch a week later advertised for €1,000 less.

That's what Madden used to say to customers he liked, before he fled to Poland. "That car is not for you" meant the car was clocked or something else was seriously wrong with it.

    Surely this should be reported!

Like, a write off on the road could result in death. :(

Or, it could have been written off because the cosmetic damage would have cost more to repair than the insurance threshold, making it an uneconomic write off. Fixed properly (and cheaper than the original estimate) there is no reason a car like that shouldn't go back on the road.

UK have different write of categories. Cat D & C can be repaired and put back on the road, cat B & A should never see a road again. Depends what category write off it was.

Do you have a link to the car they are looking at?

They buy a few cars off us and there are some of our old ones for sale at the moment.

Bought a car off the Airport branch 2 1/2 years ago, the log-book took a while to get, no problem in the end. The car was Ok and a full service and valet was carried out on the car before we collected it.

Only problem was missing a spare key, we never chased it up. So I guess thats our fault.

I bought a 07 Nissian Qasqui off them, no problems. but...had a rattling noise from under car, he said bring it in. Waited for two hours, "yea thats all fixed now", thought it was strange that it was excatly where i left it. Went to dealer for recall (seperate matter) and some cover under the car, snapped and needed welding...bloke never fixed it at all !!!

But, car was about 1.5 - 2k cheaper than anywhere else on net. Mate of mine used to deal with them and said that they just sell cheap to have a high turnover of cars.

Can't remember the last time I saw a Corsa back here, but we have sold them a few Astra's but 07 & 08.
