population ashbourne environs

    does anybody know the populations of ashbournes environs?
    I know the town population in the last census was 8,500.
    Wheres the best place to find this info?
    cso.ie has populations for example navan town and population for navan environs but nothing for ashbourne environs.
    also how exactly do they define environs, does that include nearby villages and small towns?
    any help would be greatly appreciated.
