Need a new wedge and I'm gonna go for a Vokey Spin Milled... only thing is I haven't a clue what degree bounce to get..

    Anyone have any advice?

    Thanks in advance

    lw shouldn't have much bounce.

sw should have plenty of bounce

Couple of things to think of if your looking at bounce.

If you play a soft/wet course - more bounce. If you play a hard/links course - less bounce.
Also depends on your swing... if you have a shallow angle and make divots easily, you may need wedges with more bounce

In general, you should probably err on the side of more bounce rather than less. A low bounce club will be prone to digging into the turf on shots where the ground is not crisp / dry / tight ala good links fairways. This will break your heart on a regular course if you're not a super precise ball striker.

I have one of these, it's a great club, allows you to be very aggressive with approach shots, and you get serious action. It also shreds softer balls! I went for the 54* SW with 8 bounce, 60* LW with 4 bounce. Unless you plan to play it out of sand I'd concentrate on lower bounce to be honest.

Don't agree at all. What handicap are you OP? Maybe off 10 or less you might have an OK time with a 4 degree bounce club, but you're certainly not going to be making life easy for yourself.

I wouldn't use one with such a low bounce myself and my sub-5 handicap mates would be of the same opinion.

I would urge you to try before you buy - although you won't find it easy to locate a low bounce club in any of your playing partners' bags I would suspect.

I'm off 9, but I'm terrible with a lob wedge! Perhaps therein lies the answer!

    +1 to that.
Most people don't use enough bounce. I even know a couple of pros that got custom fitted for wedges and they hadn't been using enough bounce. No sense in making the game harder.

A lob wedge with around 6-10 degrees is fine. The manufacturers wouldn't make them if there wasn't a market.

The only upside to less bounce is you don't have to walk as far to a bad shot coz its duffed in front of you, whereas with too much bounce it'll be bladed over the green :D
