My apologies if this has been discussed already but i can't find an answer by doing a search.

I'm heading to France in a couple of weeks and need to hire a car. I have found some very reasonable rates through AutoEurope the only issue is it says i'll have to leave a deposit by credit card on pick up which at minimum will be Excess+fuel+vat. With the excess being E1550 this is gonna be around 2 grand! My credit card only has a 3K limit! I've tried emailing for an answer but haven't had any luck with a proper definitive answer. Just wondering if anyone had any expierience using AutoEurope or how it works?
    Thanks.

If you don’t have any revert from them then I don’t think it’s worth wasting time on. From my personal experience can suggest you http://www.pointcarhire.com/ as they are a broker company which lists prices of most of the major car rental suppliers. This way you can get all the prices at one place. Select the one that suits you the most.

You wouldn't be the first to get excessive extra charges on your card having rented a car....and you won't be the last!!!
If you want to make sure you don't get hit with hidden extra charges, then I would recommend www.resortautos.com or www.mmccars.com.

There are so many extras that can be added to you car rental bill, even more annoying is the fact that often you don't fin out about these until AFTER you arrived back home!!

Best to do your homework BEFORE you book.

Main things to look out for are...

INSURANCE...make sure all your insurances are included (CDW is most important. Furthermore, make sure that you are not liable for any "Excess Chages" for any claims. You shuld look for a "Zero Excess" rate, which means that you wont have any liability.

TAXES/FEES.....make sure ALL local taxes and airport fees are included.

ONE-WAY DROP-OFF FEES......if you intend picking up form one location and dropping back to another, chck if there is a fee for this.

FUEL POLICY.....Most companies now operate a "Pick-up Full and Drop back Empty" policy, meaning to have to pay for a full tank of petrol when yo upick up the car, and drop it back as empty as possible. This isn't such a major problem if you ar renting the car for a week or longer, but for shorter retnals you should try to get a "Pick up Full & Drop Back Full" fuel policy, meaning you only have to replace any fuel you've actualy used.

Having rented for many years in Spain/Portugal and U.S.A. the best companies I've founds are www.resortautos.com or www.mmccars.com
