    Try asking over at: http://forums.chiffandfipple.com/viewforum.php?f=1

If you haven't tried a sindt, you might also want to ask their opinions on them. Personally I'd go for a Burke: http://www.burkewhistles.com/

I'll ask there thanks :). Really? I haven't tried one but they have a lovely tone :).. The burke whistles are kind of expensive. Do you think they are better than a sindt?

I can't honestly say as I haven't tried either of them, I'm just going by what others have said and sound clips I've heard. I think I read the Sindts weren't very loud. But best ask over at that forum as they'll describe the differences for you. I think there's a bit of a waiting list for them though!

    Dare I suggest a Seery?

That's a different animal altogether, especially if you're used to standard generation type whistles. Great whistles, but very loud and a lot harder to play, need a lot more push. Depends what you want though, just wouldn't be my cup of tea. I'd definitely go for a Seery over the recorder sound of a Susato if you want to be heard in a noisy pub.

coffeelover, been following your thread over at chiff & fipple, presume it's you :)

So they all seem to love their Sindts. Remember though what they're saying about the C natural, that you can't really play it cross fingered oxxooo. Not a problem if you always half hole it instead, but something to consider.

BTW have you ever tried a Dixon Trad? Only 20 euro, has a lovely pure tone and easy to play.

    Yes it's me :)
Thank you so much for introducing me to that site. I love it. They are all soo helpful.
I decided to order a sindt as I absolutly love the sound but it will take about a year to arrive :(
No I have never tried one. I know someone who has one like it. Not sure if it's a dixon but it has a lovely tone aswell. Might give that a try. Would I be able to buy in a shop or would I have to buy it through the internet? :)
    Thanks for your help :)

You should be able to pick up the "Dixon trad" in most music shops. I get my stuff from this crowd in the Baldoyle Industrial Estate, Dublin.

    http://www.irishmusik.com

Though they have other outlets as listed on the site. You can buy the trad in brass for only 20 euro and it's free shipping in Ireland, they take paypal. You'll see it under whistles as "DXTRAD". It also comes in nickel if you prefer that. You won't be sorry, it's a great whistle and fully tunable.

God thats cheap enough. I might invest in one. Is there a major difference between the nickle and brass one? (Sorry I'm not well up in my whistles) :o

Apparently not, some guy over at C&P tested them and said he couldn't tell any difference in sound. Though others claim the brass has a warmer sound. I personally like the feel of the brass one, I always find the nickel to be a bit slippery in the hands. They are not very loud, about the same as a Generation only with a much purer tone, no raspiness or airy hiss.

Ya I was thinking there wouldn't be much of a difference. I think i'll get a brass to see what it's like :)

Let me know what you think of it! :)

Have a look at this video, it's the second whistle he talks about:
